Description

Great Stuff Pro Construction Adhesive is a premium-grade, heavy-duty, single-component polyurethane foam adhesive designed for interior and exterior use. It delivers fast-grab tack and a long-term, high-strength bond even under challenging conditions. It bonds subfloors, drywall, paneling, foam panels, masonry, concrete, metal, and most common building materials — on dry, damp, or even frozen lumber. Its all-weather formulation means you can apply it in a wide range of temperatures, increasing jobsite productivity.

One can (26.5 oz) can replace up to 16 quart tubes of traditional caulk when applied at ¼-inch beads — so it’s cost-effective and efficient.

Features & Benefits

Features:

  • Seals and bonds subfloors, drywall, paneling, foam panels and most construction materials.
  • All-weather, freeze-thaw stable formulation — bonds on dry, damp, or frozen surfaces.
  • Adheres to wood, metal, masonry, glass, and most plastics.
  • Fast tack (tack-free in approximately 14 minutes under typical conditions) and full bond within about 7 days.
  • One 26.5 oz can replaces many traditional adhesive caulks.
  • Reusable for up to 30 days when left attached to the PRO dispensing gun.

Benefits:

  • Provides contractors and builders with a reliable, heavy-duty adhesive that can reduce fastener use and callbacks.
  • Helps reduce drywall nail pops, floor/stair squeaks, and paneling shifts thanks to a superior bond.
  • Simplifies jobsite inventory and application: one product for many substrates and conditions.
  • Performs in colder and damp conditions where traditional adhesives often struggle.
  • Supports cost savings via higher yield per can, fewer fix-ups, reduced fasteners, and potentially reduced labor/time.

Technical Data

Property Typical Value / Description
Tack-free time* ~14 minutes (75 °F / 24 °C, 50% RH)
Initial bond* Approx. 2 hours
Full bond / cure* ~7 days
Colour Cream
Shelf life 12 months (in original closed container)
Application temperature 32 °F to 100 °F (0 °C to 38 °C)

*Cure and tack times depend on temperature, humidity, and bead size.

Standards & Compliance

  • Complies with ASTM D3498 — Adhesives for field-gluing plywood to lumber framing for floor systems.
  • Complies with HUD UM 60a — Flooring adhesive products used in HUD manufactured housing.
  • Complies with ASTM D6464 — Expandable foam adhesives for fastening gypsum wallboard to wood framing.

Storage & Handling

  • Store between approximately 65–85 °F (18–29 °C) for optimum application performance.
  • Contains isocyanate and a flammable blowing agent. Vapors may travel to other rooms.
  • Do not expose cured foam to open flame or temperatures above ~240 °F (116 °C).
  • Container is under pressure — do not puncture or incinerate.

Application Details

Surface Preparation:

  • Ensure substrates are structurally sound and free of standing water, snow, ice, dirt, mud, oil, or other loose materials.
  • Remove, sand, or otherwise roughen painted surfaces or protective coatings to promote adhesion.
  • Concrete or masonry substrates should be fully cured before adhesive application.

Application Instructions:

  • For best results, use the PRO Series foam-dispensing gun (sold separately).
  • Invert the can and screw the dispensing gun onto the adapter. Adjust the flow control knob to achieve the desired bead size (recommended ~½″ / 13 mm).
  • Apply adhesive in a continuous zig-zag bead or in parallel beads so that, when panels or subfloors are placed, the adhesive layer fully contacts joists or framing.
  • Position the material over the substrate and apply firm pressure. Substrates should be butted together within 10 minutes of dispensing.
  • If the bead skins over, scrape off and reapply fresh adhesive.
  • For optimal bond life, install any supplemental mechanical fasteners after applying adhesive.

Curing / Cure Time:

  • Initial bond typically occurs in about 2 hours; full cure in approximately 7 days under typical conditions.
  • Cure time will shorten in higher temperature/humidity, and lengthen in lower temperature/humidity.

Use Conditions & Clean-Up

Use Conditions / Limitations:

  • Not for continuous underwater applications or on substrates with standing water present.
  • Ensure the work environment is properly ventilated; vapors may cause irritation and sensitization.
  • After curing, the foam is combustible — do not expose to open flame or sustained heat over 240 °F (116 °C).
  • Always wear appropriate PPE (gloves, goggles, and suitable clothing).

Clean-Up:

  • Excess, uncured adhesive can be removed from substrates with a dry cloth, putty knife, or scraper.
  • Once cured, adhesive must be mechanically removed (scraping, sanding, or grinding).
