Application Details

Surface Prep

  • Surfaces must be clean, dry, and structurally sound
  • Remove contaminants such as grease, oils, paints, curing compounds, or loose debris
  • For concrete or masonry: sandblast, grind, or wire-brush
  • Use closed-cell backer rod or bond breaker to prevent 3-point bonding

Joint Design

  • Minimum joint depth: ¼"
  • Maximum joint depth: ½"
  • Recommended 2:1 width-to-depth ratio

Application

  • Use a professional-grade caulking gun
  • Apply sealant starting from deepest point of joint and allow it to self-level
  • Dry tooling recommended to ensure adhesion and clean finish
  • For roof tiles: apply a bead between tiles and press firmly into place
  • Paintable once cured (compatibility testing required for rigid coatings)

Coverage

  • ¼" x ¼" joint = 308 linear feet per gallon
  • ½" x ½" joint = 154 linear feet per gallon

Cleanup

  • Clean uncured product with SikaSwell®-990 or xylene
  • Remove cured sealant mechanically
