Description

DuPont™ Weathermate™ Plus Housewrap is a non-woven, non-perforated polyolefin-based weather barrier engineered for maximum protection against air and moisture infiltration. Designed for builders and contractors who demand superior job-site durability and long-term performance, this advanced wrap forms a continuous protective membrane between the cladding and wall assembly—helping homes stay comfortable, energy-efficient, and structurally sound for years.

With enhanced tear strength, UV resistance, and breathability, Weathermate™ Plus Housewrap defends walls from bulk water intrusion while allowing trapped moisture to escape, reducing the risk of mold or sheathing damage. Backed by a 10-year limited warranty, this high-performance wrap meets ICC-ES AC38 code compliance and can remain uncovered for up to 120 days during construction.

Features & Benefits

  • Superior Weather Protection – Non-woven, non-perforated design prevents bulk water and air penetration while allowing interior moisture vapor to escape for a drier wall system.
  • Durable & Tear-Resistant – Polyolefin construction resists rips and tears on-site for faster, easier installation and reduced waste.
  • Breathable Design – Engineered water vapor transmission rating of ≥5 perms, promoting drying from the inside out.
  • UV & Temperature Resistant – Can remain uncovered for up to 120 days without degradation, ideal for varying job-site conditions.
  • Energy Efficiency – Reduces drafts and air leakage, improving insulation performance and home comfort.
  • Easy to Install – Lightweight, translucent film allows clear stud visibility, clings to walls, and installs quietly using standard adhesives or sealants.
  • Code Compliant – Meets IBC and IRC weather-resistive barrier requirements (AC-38) and is recognized under ICC-ES ESR-3401.
  • Warranty – Backed by a 10-Year Limited Warranty for peace of mind and proven reliability.

Application Details

DuPont™ Weathermate™ Plus Housewrap is ideal for:

  • Residential and light commercial wood-frame construction
  • Sheathing protection beneath vinyl, fiber cement, brick, or stucco cladding
  • Energy-efficient wall systems requiring air and water management
  • Multi-family and custom homes seeking enhanced building envelope performance

Installation Overview:

  • Begin at the bottom corner of the structure, ensuring proper shingling for water shedding.
  • Extend wrap 1–2 inches over the sill plate or foundation.
  • Overlap vertical seams by 6–12 inches and tape all seams with DuPont™ Weathermate™ Construction Tape.
  • For air barrier applications, seal all seams, terminations, and openings with DuPont™ Flashing or Self-Adhered Flashing Products.
  • Windows and doors should be flashed using DuPont™ Sill Pan and corresponding Weathermate™ Flashing.
  • Wrap may remain exposed up to 120 days before cladding installation.
