Description

Vulkem® 950 NF is a two-component, ultra-low-VOC polyurethane coating designed as an intermediate wear coat or optional top coat within Tremco’s waterproofing systems. It provides high durability, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance, making it suitable for vehicular and pedestrian traffic areas. While highly durable, it is not UV-stable, so it is best used under a UV-resistant top coat such as Vulkem® 951 NF in exterior applications.

Features & Benefits

  • Low Odor: Safe for use in occupied buildings and “neighbor friendly” projects.
  • Quick Turnaround: Traffic ready in 24 hours (vehicles) and 12 hours (foot).
  • Durability: Provides a hard, abrasion-resistant surface.
  • Reduced System Complexity: Requires fewer coats compared to older systems.
  • Compatibility: Designed to work seamlessly with Vulkem 360 NF or Vulkem 350 basecoats.
  • Color Options: Gray, Slate Gray, Beige; other colors available by special order.
  • Chemical & Salt Resistance: Resists oils, antifreeze, gasoline, and deicing salts.

Technical Data

  • Tensile Strength (ASTM D-412): 4200 psi
  • Elongation (ASTM D-412): 100%
  • Hardness (ASTM C-661): 75 Shore D
  • Viscosity (Brookfield HBT): ~2000 cps
  • Cure Time (ASTM D-1640): 24 hrs, traffic ready
  • Solids Content (ASTM C-792): 99+%
  • Crack Bridging (ASTM D-412): 1/8”
  • Abrasion Resistance: 100,000 cycles @ 120 psi
  • Peel Strength to Basecoat (ASTM C-794): 100% cohesive failure

Recommended Applications

  • Intermediate coat in heavy-duty vehicular traffic deck systems
  • Topcoat for interior applications where odor control and durability are important
  • Pedestrian systems: plaza decks, balconies, pool/recreation decks, plywood decks, mechanical rooms, stadium walkways
  • Vehicular systems (when paired with Vulkem 951 NF): parking stalls, ramps, drive lanes, loading docks
  • Waterproofing protection for occupied areas beneath concrete slabs

Common Substrates

  • Concrete (14–28 day cured, clean and prepared)
  • Plywood decks
  • Wood or metal (with proper priming and Vulkem 360 NF/350 basecoat)
