Description

Metacaulk 835+ Elastomeric Silicone Firestop Sealant is a professional-grade, one-component fire-rated sealant designed to help prevent the spread of flames, smoke, hot gases, and water through penetrations and construction joints in fire-rated assemblies. Its silicone-based elastomeric formulation remains flexible after curing, making it ideal for areas where vibration, expansion, contraction, or dynamic movement may occur.

This neutral cure, moisture-curing firestop sealant offers excellent weather, moisture, and chemical resistance for both interior and exterior applications. The non-slump formula is suitable for vertical and horizontal installations and can be applied using standard caulking equipment or troweled directly from the pail for larger commercial jobs. Metacaulk 835+ is commonly used in wall and floor penetrations involving electrical, plumbing, telecom, and mechanical systems in gypsum, concrete, and masonry assemblies.

Features & Benefits

  • Fire-Rated Protection: Designed to help stop the spread of flames, smoke, gases, and water through fire-rated penetrations and joint systems.
  • Flexible Elastomeric Silicone Formula: Cures to a durable, flexible seal capable of handling dynamic movement, vibration, expansion, and contraction.
  • Interior & Exterior Use: Weather- and chemical-resistant formulation suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
  • Non-Slump Application: Caulk-grade formula stays in place during vertical and overhead applications for cleaner installation.
  • Excellent Moisture Resistance: Silicone-based chemistry provides strong resistance to moisture exposure and wet conditions.
  • One-Component System: Ready-to-use formulation requires no mixing or additives, helping reduce installation time on the jobsite.
  • Mold Resistant Protection: Protected against mold growth in both wet and cured stages with incorporated biocides.
  • Compatible with Multiple Penetration Types: Ideal for electrical, plumbing, communication, and mechanical penetrations in gypsum, concrete, and masonry assemblies.
  • Sound Reduction Performance: Tested to STC 55 for acoustical smoke and sound sealing applications.
  • UL & ASTM Tested: Tested to ASTM E814 (UL 1479), ASTM E1966 (UL 2079), ASTM E84, ASTM E1399, and ASTM C920 standards.

Application Details

Cut or prepare the penetration or joint opening according to the tested firestop system requirements.

Ensure surfaces are clean and free from loose debris, dust, oil, wax, and contaminants.

Install backing material or wire mesh if required by the UL system design.

Apply Metacaulk® 835+ using a standard caulking gun, pumping equipment, or trowel.

Fill the joint or penetration opening to the required depth and tool flush for a professional finish.

Allow sealant to cure fully before exposure to service conditions.

Always follow the applicable UL system design and manufacturer installation instructions for proper firestop performance.
