Description

Metacaulk SAS Smoke & Acoustic Sealant is a high-grade acrylic latex sealant designed to provide a permanent, flexible seal around penetrations, membrane openings, and static or dynamic joints in non-fire-rated interior assemblies. SKU 66652 is supplied in 20.2 oz white foil sausage packs, with 12 packs per case. The sealant helps prevent the passage of smoke, reduce sound transmission, and limit the movement of airborne particles through openings in walls and floors. It is suitable for vertical and horizontal applications and provides STC 69 tested sound performance with Class II and III movement capability of ±33%.

Features & Benefits

  • STC 69 Tested: Tested in accordance with ASTM E90 for airborne sound transmission performance.
  • Smoke & Sound Control: Helps prevent smoke passage and impede sound transfer through joints, penetrations, and openings.
  • ±33% Movement Capability: Class II and III movement capability tested to ASTM E1399.
  • Flexible & Elastomeric: Maintains a flexible seal for static and dynamic joint applications.
  • Multiple Penetration Uses: Suitable around metallic and nonmetallic pipes, conduits, electrical cables, ventilation ducts, electrical boxes, and membrane penetrations.
  • Joint Applications: Suitable for head-of-wall, bottom-of-wall, wall-to-wall, and other linear wall or floor joints.
  • Vertical & Horizontal Use: Designed for interior wall and floor assemblies.
  • Easy Water Cleanup: Water-cleanable acrylic latex formulation helps simplify jobsite cleanup.
  • Low VOC: VOC compliant to CDPH Standard Method v1.2 and meets manufacturer-stated LEED requirements.
  • ASTM G21 Tested: Independently tested to ASTM G21 with a rating of zero.
  • No Mixing Required: Product should not be diluted and requires no mixing before normal caulk application.
  • 2-Year Shelf Life: Minimum 2-year shelf life for caulk grade when properly stored.

Application Details

Joint Applications

Thoroughly clean the joint opening and remove loose material that could interfere with installation. Apply the caulk-grade sealant by gun, trowel, or pump to the required depth, then tool the material flush with the surface of the wall or floor. Use only approved backing material when required.

Penetrations

Thoroughly clean the opening around the pipe, conduit, duct, or other penetrating item. Gun, trowel, or pump the sealant to the required depth and tool it flush with the surrounding wall or floor surface to create a complete seal.
