Description

Metacaulk Pipe Collars are prefabricated firestop systems designed for combustible plastic pipe penetrations through fire-rated walls and floors. The prefilled collars feature highly intumescent material and an easy locking design for fast, efficient installation without the need to measure firestop material. They are tested for use with PVC, CPVC, ABS, PVC/ABS foam core, FRPP, UPVC and XFR-PVC pipe and can be used with both closed and vented (DWV) piping. Depending on the applicable tested assembly, Metacaulk Pipe Collars can provide fire ratings of up to 4 hours.

Features & Benefits

  • Prefabricated & Prefilled: Ready-to-install design eliminates the need to measure firestop material.
  • Highly Intumescent: Material begins expanding at 375°F (190°C), with greatest expansion from 575°F–1,100°F.
  • Fast Installation: Integrated locking tabs provide quick and efficient installation while helping reduce labor time and cost.
  • Multiple Pipe Compatibilities: Tested for PVC, CPVC, ABS, PVC/ABS foam core, FRPP, UPVC, and XFR-PVC.
  • Versatile Applications: Designed for both closed and vented (DWV) combustible plastic piping.
  • Fire-Rated Performance: Applicable listed systems provide ratings up to 4 hours in concrete and certain gypsum-wall applications and up to 2 hours on rated wood floors.
  • Tested Firestop Device: UL Classified and tested in accordance with recognized firestop standards.

Application Details

Collar Selection

Select the appropriate Metacaulk Pipe Collar based on the diameter of the pipe and verify that the annular space meets the requirements of the applicable tested firestop system.

Positioning & Installation

  • Position the collar around the pipe and firmly against the wall or underside of the floor.
  • Secure the interlocking tabs on 1-1/2", 2", 3", and 4" collars.
  • For the 6" collar, secure the buckle according to the installation requirements.

Anchoring

If necessary, mark and predrill the substrate and secure each anchoring tab using the appropriate fasteners.

  • Concrete: Use 1/4" x 1-1/4" hex washer-head concrete anchors or appropriate steel expansion/wedge anchors as specified.
  • Gypsum: Use the specified hollow-wall or drywall fasteners with the provided fender washers.

Smoke Sealing

If an additional smoke seal is required, Metacaulk 1000 may be applied within the annular space before installing the collar.

System Requirements

Always consult the applicable UL Product iQ system listing for complete installation requirements, including approved pipe type, pipe size, annular space, substrate, fasteners, and required fire-rating configuration.
