Sikalastic® HLM 5000 GC is a one-component, cold-applied, bitumen-modified polyurethane waterproofing membrane designed for below-grade and between-slab applications. This elastomeric liquid membrane provides seamless, highly elastic, and durable protection for concrete and plywood substrates. It can be applied to damp concrete, cures to a flexible and resilient surface, and eliminates the need for hot-melt equipment. Ideal for use in areas requiring long-term waterproofing performance under demanding conditions.

Recommended Applications
Sikalastic® HLM 5000 GC is ideal for critical waterproofing needs in both new construction and retrofit settings:
- Below-grade waterproofing
- Between-slab waterproofing
- Foundation walls & retaining walls
- Planter boxes & balconies
- Parking decks and plaza decks
- Split slabs & tunnels
- Culverts & horizontal decks
- Cavity walls and blindside applications
Common Substrates:
- Concrete (standard and damp)
- Exterior-grade plywood / OSB (APA-compliant)
- Masonry
- Incidental metal penetrations
- Block walls (with primer)
Application Details
Surface Prep
- Surfaces must be clean, sound, dry, and free of oil, dust, and curing compounds
- Porous block requires priming (e.g., with Sikadur®-22 Lo-Mod FS or Sikalastic® FTP Primer)
- Fill voids and honeycombs to prevent blisters
- All expansion joints, static joints, and protrusions must be sealed or pre-striped before final membrane application
Installation
- Apply by squeegee, brush, roller, or trowel
- Apply when ambient temperatures are between 40°F and 90°F
Recommended thickness:
- Standard system: Single layer at 60 mils
- High-build system: Two coats at 60 mils each (120 mil total)
Typical yield per gallon:
- 60 mils = 25 ft²/gal
- 90 mils = 18 ft²/gal
- 120 mils = 13 ft²/gal
Use a wet film thickness gauge to verify application thickness. A flood test (2" depth for 24–48 hours) is recommended for horizontal installations.
Curing Time
- Tack-free in 24–48 hours at 75°F and 50% RH
- Protect from traffic and backfill until fully cured
- Install protection board or drainage mat within 90 days of application
